Our first outing!

We went to Alicia & James' house tonight for dinner.  They are pregnant too, and we cannot wait to meet their little one in March!

Lily did great in the car and throughout the night.

Until it was time to leave, when she wouldn't eat.  We had to feed her at around 1:00am when we got home.  That was a loooooong night for Mommy and Daddy.

Here she is just before we said good night and headed home.

Say cheese!

Lily shows her personality.  What a happy baby!

Of course, a baby's smile usually indicates gas, but we'll take it however we can get it!

Where's the snooze button when you need it?

Once again, trying to wake Lily.

Do you see the theme here??

Just kickin' back on a Thursday

Aunt Mary brought us dinner tonight, and she took a picture of all of us together.  It was y-u-m-m-y, and best of all, we didn't have to cook it!  Thanks, Aunt Mary!!

Playing possum

I may look like I'm asleep...

... but I'm not!

A skill I'm developing for later in life, when I need to fake out Mommy and Daddy because the babysitter has let me stay up too late and I have to pretend I'm asleep when they get home.

Or even later in life, when I make my parents think I'm sleeping, only to sneak out at the first opportunity.

Nah, that'll NEVER happen!  ; )

Zonked!

Someone is completely zonked out...

... so Daddy takes advantage of the down time and multi-tasks on his laptop.

Little Lily Longhorn

Sounds like "Little Bunny Fu Fu."

Lily claps for the Horns as they play OU.

Unfortunately, she didn't have many chances to practice that skill during this particular game...

In fact, she soon found that she couldn't do it alone.  Even with all her enthusiasm, it was not enough to get the Horns out of the hole.  She'd have to do something else instead.

So, in a shocking move, she went to sleep.

Who's the star of this show?

Is it Lily, or is it Mommy's feet??

Well, it wouldn't be Lily's blog if Lily wasn't the star, so of COURSE it's Lily!

However, a quick note on Mommy's feet...

Most importantly, they look like FEET!  It's been a while since I could say that.  Like months.  And frankly, they looked more like - how shall I put this? - stumps than anything resembling feet.  An extension of the cankles, really, and that's never good.

Now they look almost - dare I say it?? - bony.  BONY!

So here's to Mommy's feet!  May they have a long, happy life and always be recognizable!

Aunt Sharla comes to visit!

Sharla came up from Liberty Hill to spend a few days with Lily.  Oh - and with us also, although we were completely extraneous.  Gotta get used to that.  : )

Thank you for the visit, Aunt Sharla!!

Waking Lily up - part 2

Trying to teach a young dog new tricks

We'll start by saying Lily loves to sleep.  And when we say she loves to sleep, we mean she really, really loves to sleep.  Unfortunately, she likes to sleep during mealtime much more than she does during naptime, but we're working on that.

And we digress...

As you'll see in this video, waking Lily is somewhat of a "challenge" (nicest word we can think of, but please feel free to insert your own).  She definitely takes after Mommy where this is concerned!  Mommy can't stop the voices in her head that say, "Paybacks are hell.  Paybacks are hell."

Surely this will improve over time?

Pretty please??

Lily's first trip to the doctor

Sitting in the exam room, totally unaware of what's about to happen.  Actually, it wasn't bad at all.  Dr. Terry is super nice and was wonderful with Lily, and Lily did great!

Madonna who??

Strike a pose; there's nothing to it.  Vogue!

No pitter patter yet...

... but here are her tiny feet.

Lily's first bath!

Mommy & Daddy get ready to bathe Lily in the kitchen sink.  Note the princess hoodie towel with a big pink crown on top.

It's normal to wash your child in the same place you wash your dishes, right??

For the full experience, click on the video below.  We have to assume we'll get better at this in time...  : )

Big Brother Baxter watches from outside.

In the upper left corner, that's Mark, sitting at our breakfast table.  We're having dinner, and we have Lily in her Moses basket on the floor beside us, so we can keep an eye on her while we eat dinner.

Our Golden Retriever, Baxter, became an outside dog for a while when we brought Lily home.  He wasn't too excited about that, but we think his biggest issue was that he could not protect her from the patio. When Lily cried, Baxter cried.  He is very sweet with her.

We imagine that will last right up until the time she tries to ride him like a horse.

Daddy & Lily chillin' at home

Lily naps and dreams.  Daddy dreams of a nap.

We FINALLY concede to putting Lily down in her bassinet. Of course, it's our third night home...

Is it wrong to hold your baby all night b/c you think she's going to suffocate if you don't??  Or to ask your aunt to do it on the second night?  (Um...  Thanks, Mary!)

We say NO!

If doing that is wrong, we don't wanna be right!

Lily meets Nana & Papa!

Dad & Jane were at our house waiting for us when we got home from the hospital.  They had made us a yummy meal to last us several days.  Thank you, Dad & Jane!!

Time to head home!

Lily in her car seat as we get ready to leave the hospital.  Hard to believe this is an infant car seat and still swallows her.  She is such a little boo!
